I have a 12" rev. A powerbook and occassionally when I put it to sleep and later wake it up, the track pad and keyboard - and even the power button - do not respond. I have to shut it down by holding down the power button and restart. It only seems to have started doing this since i installed 10.3.8, and other than that i haven't changed anything recently. Any suggestions as to how to indentify the source of this problem?

First thing I'd do is open Disk Utility (/Applications/Utilities) and run "repair permissions".

i would also look at your energy saver preferences. don't let the HD go to sleep as this is sometimes the course of the 'won't wake up from sleep' issue. in fact i just don't let my computer sleep at all. i just have a plain black screen saver.

Currawong, I did repair permissions and that seemed to fix it for a while, though I should probably do that more often that I do. I also had Onyx run all those daily, weekly, monthly tasks and empty all the logs etc.

macmate, I will try your suggestion and just have a plain black screen saver.

Thanks, nick
