View Full Version : Is MacTalk preventing me from linking to my images

Hi,
I was trying to link a couple of my screenshots for the "Post your desktop" thread.

Below is a picture of the code I typed into the Message window:

http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o40/geoffp_bucket/shots/Picture1.png

When I hit the "Preview Post" button, the code in the Message window changes to the below:

http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o40/geoffp_bucket/shots/Picture2.png

As you can see below, if I direct link the images they will display properly.

http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o40/geoffp_bucket/shots/Main.png

http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o40/geoffp_bucket/shots/Secondary.png

Straight away I thought virus, trojan (I'm from a windows background) so I tested the same above on my wife's XP Pro notebook with the same results. Both code rewrites link to this url ---> http :// www. main. com/ (I broke the url apart so it doesn't provide a clickable link).

It seems to me that there is some sort of limitation at MacTalk forums that prevents me from inserting a link to an image, but allows me to insert an image. Other users seem to have no problems inserting links, so maybe it is an issue with photobucket??

I successfully posted clickable links to the same images over at Whirlpool.

I'm really stumped on this so any help would be appreciated.

This (http://www.appscout.com/images/spam%20boy.jpg) is the spam boy image I like to use when spammers come aboard.

Seems to work. Possibly a photobucket issue?

Something somewhere is not getting parsed correctly, that's for sure. Nothing to do with viruses or trojans. Try not putting in the quote marks around the url in the BBCODE and see if it still causes problems.

And let's not forget, not embed images into posts greater then 800x600 (which these 2 clearly are).

Sorry mate, just wanted to post the image at the same resolution as the linked files.

Main.png is 1280x800 and is 968k
Secondary.png is 1280x800 and is 380k

To display images, use the IMG tag :)

Turn off the "Automatically retrieve titles from external links" option further down the Add Post page.

Then your code will work fine.
