rubytuesday over at strangedogs.com (http://strangedogs.proboards40.com/index.cgi?board=experiments&action=display&num=1111206521) has managed to get a FireGL X-800 working in his G4 powermac, thus making his the only G4 on the planet that can run the 30" display.

According to him: "This card is REALLY fast. Runs away from 9800 like an 18 year old purse-snatcher from your 60 year old Aunt Fanny. And this while running with her 20lb purse !!"

Unfortunately this card is much more expensive than a mac equivalent, which doesn't really make it worth it - unless you're desperate for 30" on G4. ;)

i had a quick look at that thismorning.
i couldnt see a cpu speed listed unless i missed it.

i would asume it was a mid spec g4 with only agp 4x from looking at the game banchmarks he posted.
ill take a stab and say a 1ghz g4.

i interested in finding out how he got it to work at all.
i assume it was flashed somehow but where did he get the rom ?

No idea. I'm sure it was flashed though, as he is the admin of that site so i'd assume he was posting it in the "flashing video cards" forum correctly ;)
