Just made a ringtone from a .wma file....

1) bluetoothed from my winmob 6 device to macbook
2) converted .wma file into a .mp3 using a program called switch (http://www.nch.com.au/switch/)
3) dropped in to garageband, and edited 5 secs worth (had to cut out an announcement)
4) exported song as an mp3
5) bluetoothed back to the winmob6 device

So easy I just had to share....

I do; I'll wait and see what the 3G iPhone brings to the table, but my Dopod 838Pro is great for a PDA/phone combo, and HSDPA is great for browsing the web or getting updates from my office Exchange server.

If you want to get around the DRM and all you want to do is make a ringtone. You can use a program like Audio Hijack (http://www.rogueamoeba.com/audiohijackpro/) to record the output from iTunes. But they only sell Audio Hijack Pro now and the simpler Audio Hijack was all I ever really needed.

Or you could just burn the track to CD and import it back into iTunes.

There's a great free audio editing program called Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/). The interface is shit but it is free and does quite a lot.
