brand new 2.5ghz 4gb ram, 512mb graphics macbook pro
vm fusion and vista installed

when Vista does it's performance evaluation scoring thing cpu, ram, hdd get like 4.5 or above, but graphics only gets a 1 rating.

is there any way to change this as i'm thinking vm is only allocating a certain amount of the 512mb to vista.

please keep negative vista comments to yourself, i like it and it has served me well...so far

do you have enable 3D acceleration ticked in the preferences?

Due to the virtual machine's drivers after installation of the OS, you won't get a fully accurate rating with that. I've tried to do the same. I'd wait till Aero is supported in a VM before you go ahead and use that performance rating doodad.

Having said all that, Fusion in my experience has run better with Vista than Parallels has. Also keeping in mind, that if Vista is performing well for you, then you shouldn't have to worry about the performance rating. :)
