I, as some would know, have a largish home network of PC's. It's not the biggest, but I have 4 main ones, and another 6 in the garage that I use every now and then (but they're mainly on Ubuntu).

Thing is, I need a way, without leaving the home network, to send a message from a Mac to a PC, PC to PC, or PC to Mac.

I personally thought of using Bonjour, but, other than Miranda IM (which aint working for me), cant find anything out there.

If anyone knows of anything that will work, preferably free, please let me know.

Also, I would like to be using iChat on the Mac... :)

I'm not 100% certain but iChat on a PC is AIM - iChat supports bonjour messaging - it's entirely possible that AIM might as well.

I think Googletalk (http://www.google.com/talk/) might as well.

I know googletalk does, as above AIM is probably the best bet

Google talk goes through the internets... not what we want here. We already use MSN on most of the computers, but mum doesn't like us being on the net all the time.

hmm, I can help you with the Miranda IM program if you like, I know that lots of people have problems with not having required files. :-)
