View Full Version : Help with Excel for Mac Formulas

26th March 2008, 11:09 AM
I am struggling with using formulas in excel. If there are anybody out there who are good with excel, please HELP!!!!
My problem is: I need to lock a cell in a formula so that I can use this same very, with a locked cell, on other cells. Confused??? well, here is an example.

Formula: =A1-B2
Answer goes to cell C1

How do I lock B2 so that I can calculate the answers, using the same formula to put the answers in cells C2, i.e.

In C1, formula is A1-B2
In C2, formula is A2-B2
In C3, formula is A3-B2
and so on...

meaning, I am locking B2

I know in windows, we just have to press F4, but in mac, search me!!! (but i still love mac :p)

Please help and you will be much appreciated. Thanks! :D

Type $B$2

If you want to understand why this works, look up absolute cell references in help!
