Folks, divert your attention to the following web address:

Exploding Macs are back - Appletell (http://www.appletell.com/apple/comment/exploding-macs-are-back/)

Doesn't say how old the MacBook Pro is or what revision it is either.. I'm hoping it's not a current rev...

wow, what do you think caused that to happen. overheating???

i herd about other ones as well, and apparently Apple California is making a silent re-call of all macs purchased recently for this reason.

Interesting. Just the other day a mate of mine showed me his bloated 17" MBP battery.

He had trouble with the trackpad click button not working, and upon taking the battery out it doubled in thickness...

AFAIK, this problem hadn't been acknowledged so far for 17" MBPs. The MBP in question was bought mid-2006.

Cheers
Steffen.

So... should we be removing our batteries when we are plugged into mains ?

My new MBP (17") is always plugged in to A/C and is on most of the time... as was my old 15" MBP... and I never had an issue with leaving teh battery in.

Last thing I want now is to blow my new MBP up !

Like how recently and which ones?

Mum: Macbook.
Me: Macbook.
Friend: Just got a Macbook.

No of us want this shite happening.
