... thank you wally.

Or, you could just forward an ftp port, a ssh port or both to your iMac from your router and get a dyndns service.

Then you can use windows explorer to login over the net.

That sounds easy!:o

Is there a straightforward guide to doing that?

How secure is "logmein" ... I just had a really quick look at their site but there doesn't seem to be a very detailed explanation of how it works.

Thanks Wally & Disko!

chopper, you'll need to know how to figure your adsl/cable modem to forward ports 21/22 to the internal ip that your mac sits on.

porforward.com (http://porforward.com) is a great place for guides on how to do this.

There is also VNC - if you have Mac OS X 10.5, just turn on "screen sharing" in the Sharing part of your System Preferences.

Then on the PC, just get a VNC viewer (SourceForge.net: Downloading ... (http://downloads.sourceforge.net/vnc-tight/tightvnc-1.3.9_x86_viewer.zip)) and voila, you can use your Macs screen too.

You also need to do that port forwarding thing Disko talked about (port 5900)
