Hi does anyone know a way of blocking certain websites on Safari without making new accounts for each user?

Hey there,
Tried Parental Controls if you're using Leopard? :-)

The easy way is enabling a 2nd account with parental controls.

The hard way:

Open Terminal (/Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app)
Type: sudo pico /etc/hosts
Type your password

Scroll down with your cursur keys till you're at the bottom of the list. make a new line.

Type: 127.0.0.1 press tab, then type the domain name of the site you don't wanna see. For example:

127.0.0.1 mactalk.com.au

You can add as many sites as you like that way, each on a new line in the same format. After you're done press ctrl+o then enter to save, ctrl+x to exit pico. You can now close terminal.

Quit safari and reopen it, and it won't load that site anymore.
