unrarx from macupdate.com

EDIT: .rar, .r00 -> .rxx = multi part rar files.

So the concept to this is that r.00, r.01, r.02 etc. were rar temp files, so one would have a little 'main' .rar, but to get the whole thing out of it you need all of the r.xx files, but only extract the big one?

Not quite true... It's a multi-part rar file.. ie. first file is usually blah.rar, then next file is .r00, then followed by .r01 etc... They are split into a certain size so that it makes it easier to download, and backup.

Once you have all the files, you open up the first one (.rar) and then extract it. Then it will grab each part it needs next in numerical order of course. If your missing a file, it will fail of course.

Download a copy of burn from macupdate.com and try to use it instead for burning the ISO.

it should work with any Unarchiver program, you just open the .rar and the .r00 and such files disappear.

but the program you want is "The Unarchiver". that app does a bucketload of compression formats. http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/22774/the-unarchiver

sometimes there is no .rar file, they sometimes start on .r00 which is what freaks some people out.

newer rars have .part1 .part2 etc on then

funny how the legacy of floppy disks & newsgroups (multi part archives) still haunts us even today.

Though when they come with par files (used to repair damaged rars) it's actually quite useful.

+ 1 for Stuffit..

Stuffit have been in the game for a long time (longer than winzip, winrar and w/e) and sure know how to make an app do what its supposed to.

Best expansion app I have used.
