Another quickie ... have people have any problems with the beta Patchburn II to enable unsupported drives to burn under 10.3? Have been looking under xlr8yourmac which offers varying reviews - and I can't seem to find much info on the drives I want to enable, a Sony CRX140E and CRX175E (Gothikon I think this drive is stuffed anyhow) :P

Did you manage to install 10.3 with that drive though?

I used patchburn at work on some guys computer, can't remember what the drive was but it worked fine. I also did a hex edit hack which is a pain but also worked fine, that was with some ancient drive in OS 9 though.

The best place for info on Mac drives though is the xlr8yourmac drive database

Tried Patchburn in the end - XLR8 has lots of .device files to patch unsupported drives into the OS, but it's a pain to get going.

Patchburn II under 10.3 - run the program, click install, and that's it - the drive is now detected under the Finder and iTunes.
