I stupidly (STUPIDLY) just hit erase free space for my hard drive using the disk utility and now have no free space on it. I thought I was cleaning it up as opposed to writing it out.
How do I recover the space??
There is literally 0kb left on HD.
What file has it written?
Where would I find it?

My understanding of the systems that use the create file method is that they should delete the file once zeros or whatever have been written to it.

ie It should be a temporary issue.

I didn't think DU used this method, but I was never sure.

Thanks syncman - I just deleted a nominal file of 4GB and then my 36 GB of free drive space became apparent again.
My gray hairs can return to normal later too if they like....
