So i did an upgrade on the ol macbook, there were 10 things to upgrade i just said yes to all of em..

Everything seemed to go fine, but when the macbook rebooted its been stuck on the blue screen with the spinny thing for 20mins...

do i bite the bullet and switch it off and on again?

Sounds like you had APE Installer installed. It gets installed by Shapeshifter etc by Unsanity.

Common problem with Leopard upgrades.

thanks huy, i'm aware of that issue, and the machine is already running leopard without APE or any other crap like that installed..

the upgrades were iwork/quicktime/fcp/itunes/etc..

so the question remains, will i be in more pain if i switch it on and off again or, well i guess thats my only option...

Oh you mean software UPDATES (sorry), not OS X upgrades.

Is it "busy"?

If not maybe you can reboot it or kill the power and start again if it seems like there's no hard disk activity/fans not spinning etc.

hmm.. rebooted and everything seems fine.. all updates seemed to have worked too, except for Compressor, which hasnt updated previously.

stoopid Compressor..
