I've been playing Medal of Honor Allied Assault, Call of Duty, SOFII, Ghost Recon, Quake III + mods such as Urban Terror, Halo and other games. There's quite a bit of ported stuff. Most Apple Centres have a selection of the most popular games.

halo sucks, however. Crappy port of an awesome game. :(

MOHAA is meant to be awesome, and COD rocks... great graphics. :) Look around: the selection isn't as good as PC, but almost all the decent games are ported. For a few fun ones, check out Ambrosia. (http://www.ambrosiaSW.com/)

The Halo port isn't the problem, it's the graphic cards needed to properly drive it - I had to turn particles off altogether (no nice grenade explosions for me) on my Radeon 9600 64mb as it would bog down the machine altogether. FSAA is hopeless even on a GeForce 6800 too.

If anyone is wondering, the level loading lag is present on the XBox and PC versions and the size of the levels requires serious VRAM.

i think the difference there is that you have a 9800 and that Currawong had a 9600. there is a big difference !!

i have a 9600pro in my PC and a mate has a 9800pro - huge difference, and then another mate has a 9800XT - that kills the 9800pro as well

I Still reckon the best game is Return to Castle Wolfenstein, in fact any game based on the Quake III engine runs nice, i mean nice, i run it at 1600x1200 on my mates nvidia geforce 4mx and it runs soo smooth, its better on my radeon 9000 but i don't have a big enough screen, still i run at 1280x1024.

Its beautiful.

That's the nice thing about Quake III based games, they'll run at high res even on less than fantastic video cards.

I do enjoy some "America's Army" action. I believe it's based on the UT2k3 engine, right?

I'm surprised nobody has mention www.insidemacgames.com , the definitive Mac gamers site.

Also the Q3 engine has been pushed it about as far as it can, MOH Pacific Assault is seriously deficient compared to other games of this era and I'd put most of it down to the Q3 factor. I'm not saying the Q3 engine is bad, but it's time to say good-bye, it's had it's day.
