G'day,

I came up against this a few years ago, and never really got an answer...

In my user directory there is a folder labelled "Sites".

According to the control panel "Sharing", I can share web pages stored in that folder.

I have turned it on... put files (jpgs, html files...) into the Sites folder, and followed the link

http://c210-49-85-200.rochd2.qld.optusnet.com.au

But it just takes me to a page about Apache Web Server... which has a manual (certainly not contained in my "Sites" folder), which has no reference to Apple/Mac...

So... is this service only offered to .Mac customers or is there something I'm doing wrong?

It would be a hellova lot easier to just be able to alias files to the Sites folder when I'm wanting to post pics on here/elsewhere, instead of having to open Netscape and upload a file to my Optus account. (Or dig out Anarchie for Classic)

cheers

It's a bit more involved than ticking a box Cosmic. Check out this article that macdave wrote on it: http://mactalk.com.au/forums/showthread.php?t=26186

A while ago I came across these videocasts that show you how to set up various servers in Mac OS X, While you may not need to set up everything that these videos cover, it does go into web servers etc and gives you a good idea how it all works.
