Last night I was looking at Apple's "Welcome/A Guided Tour" (http://www.apple.com/iphone/usingiphone/guidedtour_large.html) video when, I saw something...

A flash based Mp3 Player on nytimes.com (http://nytimes.com/) on the iPhone!!

22 Seconds in to the video it the shot pan's down and reveals the flash player.

Here is a screenshot of the video.

Now there are two questions:
Did apple fake the iPhone safari shots with the real Safari
Why did Apple remove it from production units?? was it not stable enough?I believe that Apple will eventual allow for third party app's to be written for the iPhone, and flash will be coming eventually.

Also, it is interesting to notice that the same shot also has the "Aqua" look of the popdown menu on the top of the page... So this may very well be a very early pre production unit.

You can DIGG (http://digg.com/apple/iPhone_Flash_Support_Seen_on_Apple_s_own_Welcome_A _Guided_Tour_video) this page.

This is a huge deal, the media were going crazy over the lack of Flash Support.

I care. :)

My guess: Apple asked adobe to make a better, more streamlined flash plugin - so it wasn't eating up cpu cycles & battery power. Adobe probably couldn't within the time frame, so they shipped without it.

Yeah, Flash isn't going anywhere, so I expect an update to be released soon enough. Safari on iPhone isn't that stable as it is though.

There are plenty of references in the file system. It's definitely coming.
