View Full Version : V3x text message backup question

30th July 2007, 01:34 PM

I've got a lot of text messages in my Motorola V3x that I'd like to backup to my MacBook in some form, since memory on my phone is getting low and I don't want to delete them for good. Is there any way I can copy them in a .txt file or something?

Sorry I don't have an answer to your question, but I, like you, also want to know if there is a way to back up those sms.

I usually sync using BT - but when you plug it in via USB is there a folder with them on?

Don't know of any actual software that is available, But there are SIM card/USB storage sticks that allow storage of SIM data and transfer to computer.:) Are they Mac compatible I hear you ask? That I do not know.:o So that either helps or is no help at all.:p

Have a look here, probably retaill versions available .:)

Link Helps eh?

When I use BT to browse my V3x, I can see 4 folders and one with (MMC) that is usually where the music and photos taken with the camera are stored.

I had a look also with the phone connected to my mac with the USB cable, there are numerous folders there, but I don't quite seem to find where the old sms are stored. Perhaps a suggestion in where to look or what the file extension is for sms?

I have an app called message2net (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/29319) that I use in demo mode to download and keep my SMS messages.

I just had a look a the prefs and Nokia is listed as an option. Might be worth a try?

you can use BluePhone Elite (http://mirasoftware.com/BPE/) - not only does it allow you to use your Macbook to sms through your mobile, in BPEII you can 'talk through' the laptop instead of the phone. but for the OP, you can store all you SMSs off your mobile in .doc, .rtf. and .txt (from memory).
