I've got an old Mac Classic here that i'm trying to get working again but i'm not having any luck at all. :(

Everything *seems* to power up fine and the screen is filled with a shade of grey but that's as far as it gets. After about 7 seconds the screen flickers and I hear a *very* quiet beep (if the hard disk is plugged in it drowns it out.) I can't seem to get any type of happy mac, sad mac or dead mac. Key combinations don't have any effect at all.

Ok, so here's a list of things I have tried:

1) Unplugging everything that isn't critical (HDD, SuperDrive.)

2) Removing the extra RAM.

3) Removing the battery, had a look at it and it seems fine, no leakage.

Is there anything else I should try before declaring this Mac dead?

I don't care what it runs, as long as it works :P

FYI: info on the SuperDrives can be found here (http://siber-sonic.com/mac/superfloppy.html). :)

Last weekend, I got my Mac Classic running System 6.0.8 on to IRC.

It was soooo awesome, ircle 1.5 rocks!

Did you try booting from ROM?
