One problem for us here in Australia is that a non-US credit card may not be accepted for payment. Otherwise I see no issues with this.

I think the point of the article is that if you activate it with a pre paid account and then you drop in a non functioning sim card the phone does work.


Removed SIM and replaced it with an invalid, unactivated, no-account SIM. Still works as 6G WiFi iPod. Still Synced properly to iTunes. Tried placing call. It failed (as expected).

I absolutely agree.. but if you are that bit desperate.. there are work arounds


give the iPhone a month or 2 and 6G iPods will be released.....
