Hi! I need the help of an experienced MacTalker.

Everytime I restart Apple Mail or restart my computer it asks me for the password on each of my mail accounts. I tick the box to add the passwords to my keychain but on next restart I'm asked again. This has been happening for about three days.

I'm using an Intel iMac with OS 10.4.10

I've tried fixing permissions.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Kevin

What sort of mail accounts are they...gmail, isp?

have you had a look in your keychain to see what passwords are there?

Thanks. I've never had to deal with Keychain before.

isp and gmail accounts

When I look in my keychain the passwords are blank. What gives?

Delete the items relating to the mail passwords in keychains app.. then in mail re-enter the passwords again and tick the box etc. This should then create new item entries in keychains app. Which hopefully means it won't continue to ask after that.

Blank even after you click on the "show password" check box?

I think it might be under internet category?

Can you see anything at the higher level under password?

Nothing. Nothing and nothing.

I had this problem early on. I think I had to delete my keychains and start over from scratch to fix it.

Do you mean delete the Keychain app?

I haven't got any passwords in my keychain.

Thanks

No. It gets a little confusing: within Keychain.app you have one or more keychains which contain (or don't contain, in your case) passwords.

For example, in the image you've attached five posts back, it shows the System keychain.

Thanks. I'll look at my home Mac and see what I can learn from that.
