Anyone know what the minimum spec is to record with the EyeTV? I have a 466 G4 Tower that will be a server for my Apple TV. All it will do is download podcasts and US iTS tv shows during my non-peak hours. Is it possible to use it to record, then squash the recording (most probably using the Elgato h.264 stick) and chuck that in iTunes?

There will be no playback. Hopefully I can find a way that EyeTV won't also play the recording. The sever has no screen (unless I can get a cheap, small LCD screen), so it will be control via VNC.

Possible?

Assuming you're talking about digital TV - there should be no issues recording on an older machine as the content is broadcast in MPEG-2 so it just gets dumped to disk without any substantial CPU work required. Transcoding and decoding (playback) are the CPU intensive operations.

I can't confirm for sure that it will work, but don't see any problems using it to record only.

I'm with benmcgruer. Should be ok.

You'll just have to make sure the TV window is closed :)

Sweet! Let's see what happens :-)

(I wish I had my broadband back - dial up is giving me the willies!)
