View Full Version : ARIA, iTMS and Triple J

Did anyone catch Hack on Triple J this arvo? I just caught the end of Triple J's Hack show interviewing a past ARIA lawyer on the state of downloadable music in Australia. He was basically saying what we all know, we have no real alternative to illegal downloads. iTMS is not available and Bigpond Music charges too much. It's often cheaper to go to the store and buy the disc even if you could find it online legally.
Anyway the head guy of ARIA is responding to the story done today on Monday at 17:30 so tune in if you want to hear the ARIA boss try and justify the current state of music in Australia.
If you would like to listen to todays interview check here http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/hack/mod_real/fri.ram and jump to 22:50.

The important thing to realise is that Triple J is the only media that I know that are following the issue. Every other media want to be the "first" to report that iTMS is here but Triple J are the only ones that are searching out the reason why we have a second rate music industry. We should support them, they are asking the questions that we want answered.
I want to be exicted about music again, instead I download it illegally because it's easier. Each day ARIA continue to make it harder to get music legally is a day I get my music elsewhere. I'll support my favourite music by seeing it live.

Although voting has closed, remember to tune into Triple J on Australia Day (26th January) for the Hottest 100! It'll be a great music day. In fact, is anyone having or attending a Hottest 100 party this year? I will be :)

I'll be tuning in on Monday to find out if the Media Watch Theme Song got into the top-20, and hence Chris Taylor of Today Today will have to do a nudie run at Big Day Out...
