G'day,

Was just loading some MP3s from iTunes to my Lennox mp3 player... (dragging and dropping)

when suddenly the Finder appeared to "refresh" itself... all the icons disappeared (those I could see around the edge of the iTunes window) and then after a second, slowly reappeared.

What horrible sign of things to come was that all about?!

Was only running Firefox and Mail in the background; nothing intensive...
1.25Ghz eMac, 10.4

cheers

Sounds like your Finder crashed (and restarted) which is not uncommon if it only happens once in a while. Nothing to worry about unless it starts happening more than once / week (depending on how heavily you use your machine.)

Typically, if the Finder continually crashes, it can be fixed by deleting the Finder's plist in ~/Library/Preferences, however not necessarily.

Recently, I had a Finder crashing issue when right clicking in the Finder. The problem turned out to be Stuffit's contextual menu item. Once I removed that, all was good again.

Finder crashed.

Check your crashlogs in console and you might get an idea why.

This happened on my iMac G5 (constantly) - seems CoreImage was being corrupted under the user profile.
