I have a similar sentiment. Except my idea is; since politicians and experts are always telling us that a terrorist attack is not a case 'if' but 'when' why not just have the terrorists blow up the BB house.

Terrorists are happy, politicians and experts are happy, intelligent people are happy, people who actually watch this crap are unhappy (which makes me happy).

It's a win-win situation.

EDIT: BTW who the hell did Gretel root to get that job? She must give good head.

and Japan has Takeshi's castle reruns from the 1970's (previously hosted on Austar by Shannon, an ex BB blonde, famous for a while as being the first girl to drop her bikini in the showers of series 2)

but 9 has Bert Newton doing 20 to 1 tonight on "Rebels & Risk Takers"

Is that any better?

You poor deluded brain-washed fecker.

I'd watch it, if they added... like - an old black-mouth Russian grandmother into the arena, and have her constantly screaming at them to clean ziz place up.

A really hardened old babooshka to come in a bring her own brand of wrathful order to their "I've-never-lived-in-a-shared-flat-for-real-cause-Mum-and-Dad-will-look-after-me-forever" dumbell existance.

Either that, or give 'em all hand-guns. See who comes out alive should anyone have a hissy fit. :p

Pfft, hand guns. Give them a variety of different weapons and then tell them that if there is more then one person left standing, they all die, Battle Royal style. Now that was a great movie.

They've really picked a house full of champions this time! What a bunch of unitards! Even the adds are more infuriating than normal when this show's on...... It's gonna be a long winter..... I'm not sure my relationship can handle this kind of torture......

It's good people watch what they want, all about freedoms and being able to be an individual.

Having said that, if I have to watch that wrinkled hag GK, I'd poke my eye out with a sharp stick! I CANNOT STAND her, she shits me in ways that I'll never understand. And for good measure, someone decided that they would give Naomi Robson her own afternoon tv show, a la Oprah. Christ, what next......seriously, Australian tv has a lot to answer for! I have never seen so much shite in my life!

Via la Torrents! Thank Tom Cruise for The Soprano's, The Shield, 30 Rock, Entourage, 24, Weeds, Dexter and a shit of other good programs I can get off the net.....

I really wonder how many people who watch that crap (don't take that personally by the way) - know the big brother connection to George Orwell's: Nineteen Eighty-Four - or if there's a whole huge generation of people watching that crap (don't take that personally by the way) - who are unconsciously thinking: "Why the name Big Brother?"

zbaron
22nd April 2007, 09:23 PM

How many more Blondes with big boobs can they cram in this year???

Yep, the Aussie version is crap. The best BB is the UK version. Last year the eventual winner was a guy called Pete who had Torrets and there was the tiny chick called Nikki had threw better tantrums than my 2 year old :-) The UK version has more interesting tasks (which I am sure you will see this year on the Oz version), plus it concentrated on throwing together people of very different backgrounds and see how they get on.

The Australian version is just an airhead-fest. Look at the winner of last year :-)

These type of programs make me ashamed to work in television production. Give me a well produced drama / comedy any day of the week.

I have to agree with iSlayer, some of the best programs are exclusive to cable 'Rescue Me', 'Weeds' (although that's on Nine here), 'Over There', 'The Riches', 'Entourage' etc etc

I know someone who is on it. Kate was the editor of our student magazine last year at Deakin. She is a really good person!

It was weird watching someone that you know in real life in that type of situation.

Normally I'm not a regular watcher, but this year I will have to watch to see how far she gets.

Weird.

No shame here, I don't care what people think, I'll watch what I like!

I'm with hsvguy here. I hate it and all reality TV (I really do).
But this is the one reality TV show I watch and I justify it to myself on the basis that I'm seeing people I've never known in my life. It's a minor education and a real eye-opener to me.
I just wish they'd leave it a bit more pure without BB's interference.
Hearing and seeing what people default to talking and doing is fascinating to me.
Yes, it's a shame Gretel is involved at all. She's appalling - but so is the programme. However what really infuriates me is the meddling by people who obviously don't watch it and want it pulled or, worse still, banned ie J.W.Howard and other right wing nutjobs!
So - if you don't like it you don't even have to talk about it let alone watch it.
I never complained about Glasshouse or The OC or Rove or Days of Our Lives or The Biggest Loser - I just don't watch.
There's an audience for everything and a show for everyone - and then there's SBS's weather map.

@Blinder

Do yourself a favour and skip the Australian version. At the end of May the UK version is up on Channel BT. No Gretal (Davina is much better) and very little interference by BB. In fact, the contestants can say whatever they like to BB in the diary room. The people in there don't seem to be fishing for a career outside of the house. And the show is aimed at adults in the UK (screens at 10-ish), rather than the watered down, rip-off-the-kiddies-via-SMS version we have here :-)

I have this irritating like-hate relationship with this bloody show. I try and avoid it, and I thought this year I would be ok, because I have mythtv running, but the machine that runs it has died, and I got stuck watching it last night instead of Myth Busters which I actually enjoy!

What it is good for is that it was on both times just after my kids were born so there was actually something that wasnt a continuous ad on tv very late at night.

Need mythtv back (or convincing why I should buy more stuff for eyetv or whatever it is)
