Hi all. We've decided to let MacTalk users be the very first to run iStat nano 2.

Everything has been rebuilt from scratch so we need people to go over it and just check that it's working properly.

If you are running an Intel based Mac, we would appreciate it if you could post a screenshot of the fans section (after you have installed the Intel sensors Module of course) as we have some new code there to get the fan names and we need to build up a list of all the names and cleanup any ugly ones.

For the first time ever, we also have a full manual (http://islayer.com/support/?p=23). There's some pretty cool stuff in there, like all the keyboard shortcuts etc, so please check it out.

http://islayer.com/images/software/screenshots/istatnano_promo.jpg

The widget's been tested pretty extensively internally, but if something goes awry then we'd love to know.

Download iStat nano version 2 (http://islayer.com/index.php?op=item&id=21)

Thanks in advance for any help.

Cheers,
iSlayer & Marc.

Bugs/things to do found by MacTalk users (please redownload if you have the old, unfixed version):

Seems to be working fine for me. Seemed to need me to install the intel temps thingy again before I got fan and temp info though (I have it since I run iStat Pro). My fans section is calling the fan "Exhaust" (MacBook C2D 2.0GHz). Gah, I am a moron, image attached now! :o

Nice work btw guys!

You're right! I can't believe we missed that. I guess that's why we're posting the widget here before releasing ;)

A new version with that fixed has been uploaded (so please download it again).

Just found another little bug... If I click randomly around in any of the screen modes... it still lets me click buttons from the main screen even though they are invisible.

EDIT: If you look about half way down the image on the left, you can see the highlighted "invisible" button from the main screen. This happens for all the buttons on the main screen.

Mine does that as well, though I thought it was meant to do that, I like it!

[MREVO8]: Thanks again! You're on the ball tonight. We missed that one too. It's definitely not supposed to be there. I'll edit the first post when it's fixed.

Btw, my favourite skins are: Blue, putty and green (in that order). Skins requests taken (they will all be considered, as long as they fit in with everything).

How about a red or yellow (like the fire skin in iStat Pro)?

Red might make it into the release. Fire might too. Not sure :)

We're still after fan screen shots of 17" and 20" Intel iMacs, MacBooks and MacBook Pros (mostly the iMacs though). It'd be great if someone can help out.

I've got my 17" iMac (I've got a Core 2 Duo *and* a Core Duo here at home) off at the moment, can get you those in the morning if you don't get anyone else providing them by then.

Hi there marc, I was using the big iStat program up until the morning but I found it taking a lot of space on the dashboard when I really only want to find 1 thing every now and then, so I thought I'd try this iStat nano on my iMac, its amazing, the transitions between the status and the menu takes a little while but other than that its awsome.

Slightly off topic, awesome avatar btw :-P

What kind of iDisk is it ?
Remote or a local copy ?

I don't know, it just sits in my sidebar, I think it's the remote one. But when I do a "Get Info" on it it gives the correct space free.

just done some testing here and im guessing you actually have local syncing on aswell as i get the same value with it on. Ill try and get it fixed but i cant promise anything just yet

Even when you change the skin colour, the "ISTAT NANO" bar at the top of the selection menu stays orange.

[EDIT]

Whoops, just realised there was no orange skin. Was it meant to be like this?

[EDIT]

Hmmm.. its a different colour again for the putty skin.

[EDIT]

Typed ^^^ before reading your last post.

Ok.

That's intentional.

The brightly coloured skins (blue, red, green etc) have the orange view selector, the more subdued skins (grey, putty, graphite etc) have the dark grey view selector.

There's no option to include widgets in the processes section, like in iStat Pro. I liked being able to see how much of a CPU hog my new widgets were.

Is this possible?

iSlayer
10th April 2007, 10:59 AM
widgets are always included in iStat nano
