I have my video training modules I use to do on the PC and they are encoded with xvid. Although I have that installed on the Mac, still there is no picture and only audio.
What does one have to do to get it working?

Loosing hair fast as I need to release these but have to check them first and cannot.

With Perian, the Swiss Army Knife for QuickTime, any OS X application that uses QuickTime can now use these additional media types: Divx, XviD, FLV, AVI MS-MPEG4 v1, MS-MPEG4 v2, MS-MPEG4 v3, DivX 3.11 alpha, 3ivX, Sorenson H.263, Flash Screen Video, Truemotion VP6 These formats when they are inside an AVI: h.264, mpeg4, AAC, AC3 Audio, and VBR MP3.

There are some oddly encoded media files which simply don't work in QT regardless of codecs you're using. VLC will, however, play most anything:

Ok thanks for the help. Maybe I will have to include a image of VLC with the pack.
They played with that. So I guess that is the trick.

Thanks for the reply.

Take a look at this codec pack too: http://blog.twenty08.com/2006/12/27/codec-pack-for-all-the-new-mac-users/

Perian sometimes doesn't handle some videos properly :(

Thanks dec.. that didn't work either. Might stick to VLC.. that seems to do the trick ;)

There's always the option of re-encoding the files to a format friendlier to QT as well.
