News from the digg front... The Gimp, formerly only available on OS X as an X11 application, is now available as a native OS X app. Information available here:

It doesn't yet seem available for download, but suspect it shouldn't be long :)

There are instructions for downloading and compiling the source. There is not, however, a binary.

Does the X11 windowing system have any effect (even irrelevant, specific cases) where it is slower than being more 'native'?
Else, I don't really mind have the X11.
But - if there wasn't any real gain from changing, why would they?
I should probably research this better...
