Does anyone know where I can download the newest version, the one that comes with the new AirPort Extremes?

Not directly from Apple.

Ok. Thanks. Does this mean theres an issue (legal or whatever) with downloading it from a different source?

Would you happen to know why Apple don't provide it as a download?

The new airport utility only ads new functionality if you have a new airport station. Unless you have one of these new stations i would not bother about it mate. If you have a new base station the software comes with it on a CD.

OK. Thanks Jaffa. I've seen screenshots and it just looks alot better and easier to use.

I've been searching for 10 minutes and haven't found anything. I will give up now.

I stand corrected. I was told by an Apple Tech that the version was the same that is shipped with tiger just it has support for the new 802.11n System's Software.

You can get it here (http://supportdownload.apple.com/download.info.apple.com/Apple_Support_Area/Apple_Software_Updates/Mac_OS_X/downloads/061-3142.20070329.nypl9/AirPortBaseStationUpdate2007001.dmg)

Also, the installer refuses to install the Airport Utility if you don't have it already. You can easily get around this limitation by digging into the installer package and copying out the following file:
/Volumes/AirPortUtilityUpdate/AirPortBaseStationUp date2007001.mpkg/Contents/Packages/AirPortUtility. pkg/Contents/Archive.pax.gz

Then just double-click the file and a new folder "Applications" will be created with "Airport Utility.app" inside.

Why would you want to do this? Airport Utility is the app that will be replacing the Airport Admin Utility in Leopard. It has a much better interface. One new feature I've noticed is that it tells you how many people are on your wireless network.

Have fun!

Your a LEGEND macpunc! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

[EDIT:] One problem. I only got a .pax file when i opened the ...pax.gz. This was solved by renaming it to ....pax.zip.

Thanks for the heads up, the old airport utility I find to be quite slow and unresponsive. The new one looks (I haven't used it in depth yet) much better.
