Greetings,
I don't want to use Excel, and I can't afford FileMaker.
Are there any good, relatively cheap (or indeed free) applications for creating reasonably simple databases?
All suggestions welcome.

Depends what you want to use it for? MySQL and a web based solution might work

I think you'll find Openoffice has a database function. Could be helpful - and its free.

sqlite might be an option. It's a database in one file.

What do you want to use it for? Perhaps there are other options out there.

If you want to make a simple database how about trying the old one that is built into Appleworks. It's based on Filemaker but is far more simple with no relationships.

AppleWorks/Clarisworks if you have it.

Edit: Looking at the number of machines in your sig, how can you not have it!

OpenOffice's "BASE" is about as feature packed as Microsoft Access. It looks like a clone of it too... Plus. the price will hit your sweet spot =p
