I am in dire need of a new phone, but alas! no supplier seems to be able to help me out in the field of features... so here is my list of what i need.. Thanks guys

- Bluetooth
- takes standard memory card (sd, MS, no proprietary crap)
- Music player (off the memory stick)
- Video player
- Java apps, or fully featured web browser (opera etc)
- 3G
- iSync support
- Address book support (messaging dialing etc)
- camera (not essential but a plus)
- nice design

so what have people got and what do they not recommend...

I have a z800i which is great, but a little old now, and its falling apart.

Nokia E61.

Bit wider than most because of keyboard.

Overall best phone I've had, and I've been through alot.

Get a phone that is your phone and get an ipod to do all the other things. That's my way of doing things... until the iPhone comes out, of course.

yeah i understand, just that the memory stick often functions as a thumb drive as all the imacs at uni have bt installed, its much easier to put important files on, and i'll never forget it or leave it behind, coz it lives in my bag...

Hi everyone

I'm also looking for a new phone till the iPhone comes out.
Currently I have a non-blue tooth phone that is not compatible with the mac.

I'm looking for a phone that syncs phonebook, and ical seamlessly on a mac osx 10.4.
That is reliable and not too bulky.

so here is my list of what i need.

The Sony E K800i meets most of these from memory (but I could be wrong). Have seen it unlocked, unbranded and delivered for $518 recently.

I got a K800i about 3 week ago, and I love it!

3.2mp camera with flash, red-eye reduction + auto focus.
mp3/aac/etc player.
memory stick micro (i've got a 1gb stick)
video player/recorder.
organiser.
awesome screen.
nice keypad.
fast interface.

I get songs from my itunes collection with a plugin called itunemywalkman that makes a playlist in itunes then syncs it to your phone. it can even re-encode your music to whatever format & bitrate you like on the fly.

i basically only use my ipod in the car now..... until i get a line out converter for the phone......

The K800i should drop in price shortly, since the K810 will be out soon.

We thought it was a pretty good bargain - which is why we listed it as just that. I couldnt find anywhere else that beat it. All the others were $600 or so.

Why not check out the JASJAM/Dopod 838 Pro. I'm very impressed with mine.
