all depends on where i am.
On my desk nothing is better than a desktop but moving around the house and to uni with my laptop is great as well. Synchronize your desktop with your laptop.
Great option for the people that can't choose like me :)

Desktop for games and intensive apps. Laptop for everything else.

They both have their place. But I voted desktop.

I voted Laptop but I'd like to have both. A desktop for the family and a MacBook for moi :)

So true.

-take the powercord out.
- lift up imac keyboard and mouse in one go.
- place it anywhere else in the house and boot it up again.

this takes a 2 minutes and i am working in the same app downstairs.

can remember it took a whole lot longer to get our pc working in our office:)

Desktop. Laptops annoy me. Crap keyboard and small screen, and trackpads suck. Yes, I know you can plug in a keyboard or mouse or display. But then you might as well use a desktop.

That said, I want a laptop to use on the couch when watching telly.

I like my laptop because I use it evverywhere......watching TV, outside by the pool, in bed. I don't think I'll buy a desktop until I buy my own house which is a while off.

Laptop, with all of the perpherals previously rec'd.
(Unless you're completely office/studio bound.)

You still haven't told us what your main needs are for your proposed MBP?
What will you be using your new machine for? That's really the deciding question on MBP size, form factor, power etc.
Let us know what and you'll find more accurate recommendations:)

A desktop for the family and a MacBook for moi :)

This is what I have - iMac for family, MBP for me. It's great! But as already mentioned, iMac is almost a laptop anyway
