View Full Version : Clamshell 10.3.9 failing to recognise .dmgs

So I loaded 10.3 onto my friends clamshell (blue 300htz) and everything went well except one thing - it will not recognize .dmg files - asks what application it should use to open it. Very strange.

I upgraded to 10.3.9 using Software update hopping that would fix things but no change. It also doesn't seem to know what to do with .ini. or any file that opens/loads/unpacks things etc. and the show as balnk files - no icons.

The only way I can get a .dmg file to mount is through Disk Utility (loaded Photoshop this way)

Any ideas?

Is it possible that in the custom upgrade of 10.3 (to keep the size low) I ticked something to not load that was important?

Suggest you try pressing down your control key on your keyboard, and then clicking down on a .dmg - (Control-click) - in order to see the pop-out menu.

Then scroll your cursor to: Open With and straight across to: DiskImageMounter (default), and clicking on DiskImageMounter.

What happens ?

Is DiskImageMounter there to be selected ?

Report back when you find out.
