I'm considering buying a Core Duo 2.0GHz MacBook Pro / 128mb VRAM

Will it be fast enough (i.e. smooth and reliable) in the following:

- Final Cut Pro & Motion
- Aperture
- iLife 06
- User Interface
- Multi-tasking
- Graphics & intensive 3D games like Quake 4 & Doom 3
- Rosetta emulation of Photoshop etc.

I'm going from a iMac G5 1.8GHz with FX 5200 Ultra & 2GB ram.

How does it compare to, say, a 2.0GHz G5 and higher?

Of course it will be fast enough for all of those things..

Instead of emulating photoshop in rosetta why not download the CS3 beta!

I have a 2.1ghz Core 2 Duo iMac. It walks all over my Dual 2.0ghz G5.

I can encode video to h.264 17fps faster than my friend with a dual 2.7ghz g5

And in certain other benchmarks it comes out almost as fast as a quad 2.5 g5 (within 40 seconds). With the exception of a very memory intensive benchmark where it was 3 minutes behind the quad g5, but still 8 minutes ahead of my Dual 2.0 G5.

The intel chips make IBM's look like they were carved from stone.
