Hi guys,

I recently replaced my dead hard drive in my 15" PB with a Seagate 120GB replacement - all went smoothly and I reinstalled the OS and all files from my external drive with no problems.

I have now discovered that bluetooth is no longer available from the menu bar, and has disappeared from the system preferences menu. I use bluetooth to sync with my mobile and connect a mouse, so would like to fix ASAP.

Help gratefully accepted!

One of the guys I work with had the bluetooth in his G4 iBook stop working a few months ago. Plugging in a USB bluetooth dongle to do a file transfer then removing it seemed to magically get it back working again, so that may be worth a crack if you have access to a dongle?

Is there any info for bluetooth under system profiler?

Yep - it says "no information found"

Reinstall OSX or something is my only suggestion.

You didn't accidentally dislodge the bluetooth module when you were installing the drive? I am not sure where it is in PBs, so that is just a guess...

I will see if I can find some information on where the module lives and maybe have a look tonight

I have been having a bit of a hunt around too :)

Here are a couple of links to things I have found so far:
http://meyerweb.com/eric/thoughts/2004/10/17/broken-bluetooth/
http://www.macintouch.com/bluetooth03.html#apr26

They are a bit old, but they may help. Looks like resetting the PMU might be another option. Good luck mate!

Well the PMU reset worked!

Bluetooth now fully functional again without having to open the PB case.

Thanks for the advice:)
