I've just got myself a 2nd hand imac G4 and would like to transfer all my photos etc from my PC to it. I have a router, it it possible to do basic file transfer between the imac and the PC that both attached to the router?

Is there a 'how to' to get this going? I'm a very recent convert from PC.

Thanks,

Jarrod

Hey jarrodb - welcome to mac, and welcome to AppleTalk. :)

here are some more. :)

A quick search for "networking" brought up:
Need Help With Networking (http://forums.appletalk.com.au/index.php?showtopic=2059)
Transferring files from PC to mac (http://forums.appletalk.com.au/index.php?showtopic=1824)
networking, viewing my mac from my pc (http://forums.appletalk.com.au/index.php?showtopic=782)

Take a look through those, and see if they help.

For moving files or any file manupilation, I find it easier for me to work on the winbox. (lesser keystrokes involved) LOL
Then again, I am a windows convert. :P

All you need is to turn on the samba sharing on the mac side, and you can find it on your network.

What I find strange is, when I do a folder connect to a winbox from osx, I have to authenticate twice. Once you get into the box, another to mount the share drive.
sometimes, I have to repeat the process to have the drive mounted. That's why I prefer to work on the winbox.
