View Full Version : Gizmodo says: iPhone on Monday?

Wow, I can't believe that no one seems to have noticed the most frantic (if slightly implausible) Apple-related news of the day.

Earlier this morning, Gizmodo (http://www.gizmodo.com/gadgets/cellphones/gizmodo-knows-iphone-will-be-announced-on-monday-221991.php) released a cryptic report claiming that the iPhone will be announced next Monday.

Aside from the usual jibes surrounding the out of control hype/speculation for the iPhone, and how this must be a fake, Gizmodo is relatively reputable, as is the blogger who reported it - and by making such a bold claim, they have both staked their reputations on it.

There has been talk of Gizmodo being hacked (given some of the other stuff on their front page, like a USB pole dancer and a vibrator patent), but as yet there's been no clarity on the situation. TUAW (http://www.tuaw.com) and MacRumors (http://www.macrumors.com) have picked up the report and are running with it as well. Combine this with the little bits of pieces to have escaped from Kevin Rose and that analyst recently, and things become interesting...

Of course, the chances of this being for real are slim on the face of it. But it's a damn interesting chain of events, and I'm looking forward to seeing Gizmodo on Monday either gloriously triumphant or ostracised forever... :)

Could they possibly just announce the product on Monday, generating hype like the iTV, and perhaps even stalling some Christmas shopping, for a Macworld release?

I need a new phone, so it would be good timing. I'm at the stage of not bothering to stay up nights for keynotes - it's no different to me if I find out the next day, or in this case, the next week.

Would be horrid timing though, totally upsetting the entire Xmas sales season.
