Anyone seen this before?

www.pegasosppc.com

Basicly, its a small company selling PowerPC G3, G4 desktop units running either it's own software (MorphOS) or a Linux (Yellowdog or Debian).

Local reseller here -> http://pegasos.com.au/shop/

It would be interesting to know if it runs Mac OS X.

What would make it more interesting is if it could compare to a similar x86 beowulf cluster. I personall would like to see this company sell dual CPU G4 1GHz systems in a 1U rack selling at $1,000 a pop. *dreams of donating his CPU power to SETI@Home, Folding@Home*

Anyhoo...

Wont run Mac OS X - MorphOS is an Amiga-style OS using a Linux kernel from memory.

Though, there are reports of it running OS 10.3 via MacOnLinux on Linux at normal speed.
Look into MacOnLinux and see what you'll find :)

Bloody expensive for what it is however, $1100 for a G3 600 256MB/40GB machine, of $1500 for a G4 1Ghz same specs. The form factor is quite nice however, compact and micro ATX using standard PC parts.

You could get a stock Sawtooth G4 for ~ $400 - 600 and it would be a much cheaper, and nicer machine.

Would be interesting to see what happens once the price drops, might consider one then.
