can anyone offer any suggestions, i am wanting to use a program called shoebox- it is a linguistics program that can count the frequency that words occur within a text- my problem is i want to scan texts and them put them into a format that with enable the shoebox program to access it. does anyone know what i can use to convert a scanned image into an active text document. i hink that is what is required?

What you're after is OCR software (optical character recognition) usually this kind of software is bundled with the scanner.

Have a look on versiontracker.com they might have something there.
