Howdy,

I recently received a power adaptor I bought on ebay.

I went to plug it in to its extension plug, but it would go in.

I found that it has two 'divets' between the prongs instead
of one, so it's stopping the plug from going in.

It has a few visual differences... is there such thing as a forged
power adaptor? Some of the spelling of words on the bottom is
different, and it's all printed in light green instead of grey.

Anyway, if anyone has come across this before and has a solution,
or if anyone can help me find a compatible extension, please let me
know.

Highly unlikely, the connector you're describing is called a "figure 8 plug". I'll bet the circular tab that the extension cable slides on to is plastic and the tab on your old adapter was metal. The older style adapters were not earthed (plastic vs. metal tab). Apple used a modified figure 8 plug on the newer earthed version so that older non-earthed extension cables could not be used.

Here is a picture of the later model power adapter with the modifed figure 8 socket and metal earth pin. The older model has a standard figure 8 connector and no earth just a plastic pin.

Well, fompsweeva's sig mentions a Powerbook G4 so I would suspect it's a white brick adaptor not an old metal yo-yo adapter.

I remember apple released a Silver metal like square adapter that was used in the early powerbook but aparently wasn't grounded i want to get my hands on that adapter.

Ah. Mine has the unmodified figure 8 WITH a metal earth pin. Strange...
