I've been taking small movies of my kid with a canon digital still camera. Loads onto iphoto easily as an avi file. Some are about 3-10MB in size. How do I somehow make them a smaller size (eg <2MB) in order to email it as an attachment (using gmail) to the grandparents? I have Handbrake and Toast Titanium but neither seems to be able to do this.

Click here to download ffmpegX (http://homepage.mac.com/major4/). It's free. (Shareware)

(Toast is only used for burning material to CD or DVD).

One could also use QuickTime Pro, yet you need to pay Apple online to get the "Pro" version which allows you to resave into other video formats, drop frames, make the winow size smaller etc, yet ffmpegX will allow you to do all that anyway and then some...

Check out iSquint, all the good bits of ffMpeg without the need to download separate components and extra bits to make it work.
