Hi

Does anyone know of a piece of (free) software that will tell you how many cycles/how much life your battery has left in it? This can't be a widget though as I want to see how much life is left on a powerbook running 10.2 and another running 10.3.

Thanks

Not sure if this is what you want but try coconut battery. You can get it at http://www.coconut-flavour.com/

Coconut Battery only supports 10.4

I don't think there would be a software that counted down the number of cycles your battery has left.

Apple's bundled System Profiler displays the battery's cycle count.

Copy this into the Terminal:

/usr/sbin/ioreg -p IODeviceTree -n battery -w 0 | grep IOBatteryInfo

With a bit of deciphering, it will give all the useful output you need.

Try XCharge (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/8896).

I always use it when I get a new Mac laptop to calibrate the battery and test its performance over the first few months. Straightforward enough to use, though perhaps could be more statistically, if not visually, informative.
