Found the ads which aired in 2002 in the United States. I cant remember if they ever aired here.

They are ads with Will Ferrel, and he states he is a
Porn Actor at the end of each ad.

As you can imagine, as seasoned Macheads, we've definitely covered this territory before, but I do take my hat off to you, my search of previous posts also could not uncover it specifically (other than iPod Ads from last year).

If you want to get a whole host of Apple ads, try this site (http://www.esm.psu.edu/Faculty/Gray/movies.html).

I've got nearly 2GB of ads sitting on my hard drive. Great stuff.

Personally I didn't like the switch ads :P

Philip - I've always wondered how it is possible to download/save the few Stevenotes that are still available online - any advice?

Would love to see again (and see for the first time) some classic ones like:

- Introduction of the Power Mac G5
- Introduction of the 12" and 17" Powerbooks
- Introduction of the iMac G4
- Introduction of the iPod
- Introduction of the original iMac
- Introduction of the original Macintosh

Ah, if only Apple sold DVDs full of Stevenotes - lol, I just realised how sad that sounds! B)

:D lol Ozi, I love that ad - poor girl, she was so young and naive. And she seemed to be pretty honestly a real Mac switcher/fanatic, so it's a shame if the whole web whirlwind kind of changed her mind. But hilarious, I can watch that ad over and over and over and not get bored.

Yep, that's one pretty impressive site zefi - good to see it all collated so nicely! Will have to go back for more later, but thanks from me too! :)

Is there anyone else here who wants one of the DVDs but doesn't have a credit card?

I can buy a few copies and you can give me the cash or depositing money into my bank account before I buy it (my credit card limit is already pretty maxed out) and I'll mail it to you.

It will cost you more than the US$9 though like this:

AUS$12 for the actual DVD.
$1 for currency conversion on my credit card/PayPal fee
$5 for post anywhere in Australia.

So it totals up to $18.

Anyone that wants in, send me an e-mail to anthony.agius@internode.on.net with the subject: Apple DVD, with your shipping address and I'll reply back with my bank details so you can deposit the money in there. If you're in Melbourne and prefer to pick it up from me and pay cash, just tell me that and you don't need to pay the shipping fee making it only $12 :)

I'll set a deadline of 5PM (Melbourne time) Thursday for orders. Maybe if there are enough people after that who want a copy, I can do another order.

So yeah, anyone that wants one, e-mail me - anthony.agius@internode.on.net :)

whoa Ellen Feiss switched back?

You are kidding me. I know that the mac community got a little fanatical about her and made her the poster girl of the switchers.... but who wants to go back to windows?

Its like an abusive relationship - completely unhealthy. At least you get worshipped by nerds on the mac platform :P

I think I've perpetuated a small misinterpretation - I don't think Ellen Feiss has unswitched - but I do think the poor girl has probably had a pretty unpleasant time becoming such a figure of mirth, mockery and idolatry for a a bunch of web geeks.

That'd be upsetting for anybody, especially for someone her age. Not everyone wants to be a fanboy's wet dream <_<

i can eaither do a data dvd or a video dvd.
for a video dvd there are 2 options
1 is to make the video bigger to fill the screen resulting in awful quality full screen video
2 is to center each video and have a black border round them

let me know what you prefer

Phillip
11th November 2004, 07:03 PM
I think the data DVD is much better cause then we can all burn it to dvd video if that what we like or for the people who don't want that, they can stick to the files.

I just view them on the computer.

ajs
11th November 2004, 07:49 PM
Gee islayer - that's a nice offer. :) If it is not too much trouble I'd love to have a data DVD with the keynotes on it for the same reasons as stated by Phillip.

I spent ages today downloading some of those old ads that this thread pointed me to - loved seeing Kevin Costner doing the Lisa ad in 1983.

btw - does anybody know where we can find that 80s Australian Apple ad of the two guys in an elevator talking about a business report? The one where one businessman looks over the report and says, "I didn't know our computers could do this." To which the other guy replies, "They can't - I did it at home." The other businessman then asks something along the lines of "with what" and then the elevator bell rings and the other business man exits, leaving the first guy asking "Frank, what computer did you use?" :P ... cue rainbow Apple logo.

If anybody remembers the Twelfth Man there is a parody of this ad on one of his early releases ... or maybe it was his Wired World of Sports debut.

ajs
11th November 2004, 10:20 PM
Phillip Thanks for providing that link. :) That's the essence of it - but this was not the ad that screened in Australia. Our ad was two guys in an elevator, iirc. And I don't think it had the banter at the beginning re: the rivalry.

I recall something along the lines of "Missed you at the shindig the other night." "I was busy" "How's that report going for Monday?" "It's finished" "Really - can I have a look?" and then it pretty much followed the ad you linked to ... must have got an outside team, revenue projections, did it ourselves on computer, etc etc.

yep you are down

just an update for everyone.
im currently downloading some more keynotes and a few other various launches.
problem is i will have well over 4gb of video.
i will give people th option of chosing what videos will be on the disc
i can do a disc with just ads and a few keynotes or i can try and squeeze all the keynotes onto one disc
im happy to do a 2 disc set for anyone but i cannot afford to do it for free as its costing me 75c a disk and postage is aroun $3-4 for each one.
anyone who wants these will have to give $5 to cover costs

i will still give the first 20 free as i have said but after that i cant afford to.
the first 20 will cost around $80 which is comming out of my pocket

the princo discs i have are printable so if anyone wants i can have a friend print labels on to them for $1 per disc or i can leave them blank if you want to print labels youselves

Ok now you gotta figure out a payment system.

Just thought of something to. I dont know if your in Melbourne or not islayer, but how about you take several copies to the Melbourne Lan gathering (if you were planning on going) happening on the 11th. You can give them out there instead of worrying about postage (for those based in Melbourne).

iSlayer
12th November 2004, 11:30 PM
nope im in hobart
payment will be via direct deposit into my bank account via internet banking or you can send a money order
for those based in melbourne who are going to the lan i can send all your dvd's in 1 package to cut down on costs a bit
i dont want to have to be doing batches of these so i ill wait say a week until everyone has had a chance to decide if they want one and i will do one batch
a second batch will only be done if there is enough interest

adamjc
12th November 2004, 11:40 PM
Good thinking islayer.

I will be fine with paying :) Felt kinda bad if you really had to take $80 outta you pocket when we can all pay for it. By paying for it we can appreciate it even more :) I just want some old keynotes :P

BTW it costs about $2 to send a DVD. ($1 for the box to post it in, and $1 for the postage) Plus $1 for the DVD. = $3. You only need to send one to the LAN in Melbourne cause everyone can just copy it off each other.

ajs
13th November 2004, 12:09 AM
Hi islayer - I'm happy to pay for it as well.

On the other hand sending a big batch (or one DVD) across to the LAN meeting is sensible - only thing is, I won't actually be going to it. However, if somebody from Melbourne is going and would be able to pick up a copy for me, I'll happily meet up with you at some stage and buy you a beer ... or whatever you prefer. :)

Kreats
13th November 2004, 12:18 AM
I'm happy to pay $5 for the two DVD's - I can't make the lan cause I'm already booked in for another lan which is on at the exact same time :/ Annoying cause it's just up the road really.

Yeah I'm more after the keynotes and talks than the old commericals - but whatever is easier to cram on the DVD's :)
