has .mac been updated recently? as whe n i try to access i get message something like " reenter password as keychain has changed? ,,, or something like that?

No, thats your Keychain updating, just hit "change all". Thats whats remember your .Mac password but that message has nothing to do with .Mac itself.

That would be because of the 10.4.7 update... It's OK to accept it.
