The Inquirer (http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=32550) is reporting that a Dell laptop exploded at a Japanese conference, and has photographs of the ensuing madness...

Makes you wonder. All those people complaining about warm laps from MBs and MBPs seem to be getting off pretty lightly compared to this! :)

I didn't think there would be anything inside a compter that would be that combustable. Sure, there's stuff that would burn or melt, but shooting 2 foot flames?

Try the Lithium ion Batteries which are known to over heat and can do just what is posted above.

agree with rob05, even a AA over-heat battery will cause explosion and flame. all the battery pack mention that. but, it's just damn scary... especially when i feel my MBP getting hotter on my lap...

LOL :D How could I possibly think that.

Though I did not think of the lithium. Must try it one day.

... now you mention, I recall reading an article 2-3 years back about an english professor is scalded his genitalia after working on a laptop for hours on end that he had rested in his lap. I can't remember the brand of laptop, however...

Not to mention that MacBooks / MBPs are now using the same untested Lithium Ion Polymer Batteries, as Dell's exploding laptop, causing this to happen:

Yes - it certainly does make one wonder!

Hmmm, should I blame Intel... hmmmm I dunno... Dodgy intel + dodgy battery does not = a good computer :P

Anyone know if someone caught an actual video of it? who cares about photos!
