View Full Version : What is my PowerBook worth?

14th February 2004, 08:58 AM
I want to sell my PowerBook G4 1.33 Ghz 512 Meg RAM. As new condition, still have all packing boxes, install DVD, plus an up-to-date copy of Panther.

I purchased it in November last year, my needs have altered now and I want to change to a desktop system, trouble is I don't know what this is worth.

Anyone have a ballpark figure I can advertise it for, or expect to get if I auction it somewhere?

Appreciate the help thanks

If you're interested, I have a G5 1.6GHz machine with 512mb of RAM which I'd be up for trading for that PowerBook ;)

But new, a 17" PowerBook has an RRP of $5499. So I guess 2nd hand around $4000-4500 would be the price any sane person would be willing to pay. Any more than that and really, you should just buy a new one.

However, if you need a desktop, you could do a lot worse than this G5, and I need a laptop. So yeah, up to you mate :)

hmmm, it's tempting, but I was thinking of downsizing it really and keeping some cash in hand. I don't need the latest and greatest.

Thanks anyway for the advice decryption...

If you decide to sell it, our trading forums are a good place.
You'd be assured it'd go to a good Mac loving home ;)
