I am using a Sony Handycam DCR-DVD101 that uses 8cm DVD-R/W disks that appear not be supported by OSX - tried it IMAC G4 17" and G4 450DP with Pioneer DVD-RW. Using latest OS X 10.3.5 with all patches.

Why can't I read 8cm DVD-R/W? OS X seems to think the disks are blank, but won't format them.

I think they are actually UDF format (?)

No drivers to plug the Sony in direct to a Mac via USB (at least none that I can find).

Is there any software out there that will let me read the disks?

Any suggestions, pointers as to where to look?

Have I missed something?

Thanks,

Damian

Pop it in a windows machine and see what format the filesystem on the disc is. Then you'll better be able to find out how to read it.
The fact it's a small DVD or a normal DVD makes no difference as to wether Mac OS X can read it.

The Sony should have a Firewire/IEEE1394/iLink port on it, then you could hook it up and import via iMovie etc.
