View Full Version : Where do I find Windows Media Plugin?

I read somewhere recently that there is a Quicktime plugin which will handle playback of Windows Media Player files, as MS has now discontinued the WMP for Mac (or at last will not release new versions). I cannot recall where I read this but have searched the Apple and Appletalk sites to no avail. Can any macheads help?

thanks!
I was looking for an Apple related site- didn't realise it was 3rd party.

God, I wish i'd never. Takes over then shits itself.

If you are going to take the steering wheel then learn how to drive the bloody car i say.

I hope it gets a whole lot better soon.

aa... flip4mac has been faster, more stable and of a higher quality for me than Windows Media Player ever was.

Are you sure the problem isn't somewhere else? Check in the console to see if there are any hints as to why it crashes.

flip4mac has been the bane of my existence. Safari crashes everytime I want to view a wmv file. I'm gonna be looking for that thread I started a while back asking how to get rid of it.

it did have crashing issues when apple updated quicktime, but then flip4mac released an update that fixed it. Make sure you've got the latest version.

I had the most recent version installed and it still kept crashing. Luckily it comes with an unistall package. I only really installed it because WMP wouldn't install on my PB for some reason.

Agreed, Flip4Mac works far better than WMP did for me, and even plays some files that VLC can't handle.
