Hello All :)

I'm having trouble setting up my HP Photosmart 2575 over my network... It prints fine from my Mac (USB Connection) but it won't print from my mum's windows laptop. I've set it to be shared in System Preferences, too. Also, I've installed it as a network printer in Windows, but when I print the printer doesnt even recognise that its received a job.

I've called the M$ "Technical Support" and they don't know what going on...however for a $50 fee they might be able to find a solution <_<

Thanks for any help you could provide:)

Mitch

Grab the bojour/rendevouz/zeroconf ( whatever it's called this week ) app for windows, it's on apples site. it's easiest way to set it up ( imo ).

I haven't tried the Bonjour method, but you can find Apple's Bonjour page here (http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/bonjour/), which includes a link to the Bonjour for Windows download (http://akamai.info.apple.com/Bonjour/061-2230.20060118.BnJrn5/BonjourSetup.exe).

Otherwise, I have found that there are two things you need to do. Make sure the name of the printer on your OS X system doesn't include a space. Spaces in the printer name seem to confuse SMB printing. Also, on the Windows machine, pick a postscript driver for the printer, regarless of the fact that its not a postscript printer. OS X requires that the Windows machine forward items for printing postscript. It will then translate to your printer.
