View Full Version : Help needed with storage on my Macbook Pro

Hi everyone new to the site and looking for help regarding the storage on my macbook. a warning keeps appearing saying that my start up disk is nearly full. everything i download i delete but when i go into "about this mac" its telling me i have 180gb of movies taking up space but i can't find them so I'm hoping that someone out their might be able to point me in the right direction to cure this problem any help is very much appreciated. thank you in advance Matt

Have you emptied your Trash? Files aren't actually deleted until that is done.

Also, if you suspect it's movies taking up a lot of space and emptying the trash still leaves you with little, try searching for files ending in ".mp4" or ".avi" or ".mkv' or whatever.

Download something called daisydisk. they have a trial.

It allows you to see how and where you disk is being used. You can navigate further into the large areas and see what is happening.

Thanks for your help got it sorted with the help of daisy disk great app for seeing where all of your storage is being taken up so thank you for the suggestion. Cheers Matt
